Before I ever even looked on a map to see where we were going, my wife had insisted that we have popovers at the Jordon Pond House. I’m here to tell you that the popovers were truly worth making time for. And then, there’s the view…

And this is one of the views THEY see. Jordan Pond restaurant is built on.. Jordan Pond! Who would’ve thunk it? Actually the mountains in the distance are called the ‘Bubbles’, but we all know where my mind went.

Here Be Dragons

July 1, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. What a difference a couple of weeks make. These creatures exist to serve…small kids and their parents taking joy rides in the Inner Harbor.

We call this July Fun 1, because we may be posting more July pics as the month rolls on. Dan and I picked the months of summer for this assignment to give ourselves more leeway than the weekly offerings we made over the winter.

A Tuesday in June

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is usually busier than this. But maybe it was the mid-week doldrums. In any case, to the right are shops and food, to the left is the harbor proper, and behind me, about a 1/2 mile, is my office.

Hot Summer Days

The festival season is running at full speed in June, and everywhere you look will be one or another with some theme. This hot guy (?) was found at a small Renaissance Fair near Corry PA. While this may seem like a cheap trick, it’s not one I would like to try.

What a road..

You know you’ve been on this road. No, they don’t always mark it so well, but it’s there. Usually it’s late at night, after several hundred miles earlier that day, and then.. you find it! Of course, unless you live in Kansas!

Graffiti Artist

I got this idea from some fun my daughter had a couple years ago. Was a good excuse for some playtime after dark. I tried several approaches before another of my daughter’s comments inspired this.
Only regret? Swack and I have randomly managed to not duplicate techniques. That almost changed when, while prompting him for his Z he clued me that he was going this way. I laughed, told him about my Z and he picked another, albeit way cool, pic. would have liked to see what he would have come up with.

Y – Knot!

Ultimately, why not? Ask yourself this question and you may find yourself thinking there is no good reason why not! Go ahead and DO!

Meet Me at the Y

Looking down the open staircase at the Carnegie, I found it.. my Y. I had Yucatan as well, but that would be cheating. Thought of a few other ‘visual Y’s” as well, but no one would cooperate!

The beer so nice, they named it twice XX

Actually prefer Corona, but this was all they had, and I did need an X! Needless to say got strange looks as I walked around positioning a beer near the pool.

X-Road of the Metro

All trains cross here. Or under here. This is the ceiling where the Red Line and the Blue/Orange lines cross in DC’s Metro Center. Would have like a nice square shot, but they frown on you walking on their tracks.

Weekend Weather

As they used to say on the A-Team,
“I love it when a plan comes together!”
A trip to DC for the blossoms is subject to so many variables,
the weather, when the blossoms are out, has it rained yet, etc..
But this weekend trip was a fine one, with great timing.
Got to show my MIL around her old stompin grounds,
got some great food, and even squeezed in some time
to see my co-conspirator on this blog and his wife and our old college bud.

Rear Window

Not as ominous as it’s namesake, this is the view out my home office window. That one skinny branch snakes out from the tree giving me something to stare out for longer than I should when deadlines are looming.

Vacant Marina

But it won’t be for long. Was visiting St. Micheal’s Maryland with my sister a couple of weeks before the season starts. The docks will soon be full of all manor of sea going vessels. But for now, not even a seagull to be seen..

Village in the water

I’ve seen many types of water-side communities, but never one like this. It’s actually in a protected harbor on Presque Isle in Erie, and in the hundreds of times I’ve been there over the years, I never took the side road that leads to this floating village. Over two dozen homes of various designs, floating on the lake. They’re fed electricity as well, so these are true homes. We did wonder if this kept them from paying property taxes!

Under the Bench

The world looks different when you try a new perspective. You find angles and perspective you didn’t expect. I’m not sure what grabbed me more, the strength of the slats, the purity of the blue between, or the understated reflection of the cobble stones.

Taney Tied Up

The USCGC Taney is currently docked at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.She is a survivor of the attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Decommissioned on 7 December 1986, she is displayed in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor along with USS Torsk and Lightship 116.
USCGC Taney is a National Historic Landmark.

Tapping into Spring

This is the time of year up north when the sap starts running, and these cans hanging from Maple trees are often the first sign of the changes. These days they use a lot more of the plastic tubing for this effort,
as all the trees run to a central location, and it requires less work to harvest. So cans like these are a dying breed.
except in the most logical place,- the local cemeteries. Not sure where these trees are getting their nourishment,
but its a great use of land!
